track 'n share help

- Installing the GPS

track 'n share makes use of an open source initiative GpsBabel. The tool provides support to directly download tracks from your GPS if you have a Garmin or Magellan GPS. If you have another brand, please refer to Converting a track file to GPX 1.1. The conversion tool can be used to convert tracks from a large variety of formats to GPX, the file format that track 'n share uses.

Important! Install the driver before you download tracks
If your GPS works with a USB connection, it will need a driver to communicate with track 'n share. Without a driver, communication with your GPS might not be possible.

How do I know if my unit uses an USB connection?

The picture shows a USB connection on the left side and serial port (RS232) connection on the right side. Please refer to you GPS manual for more information.

Obtaining the drivers
You can get the latest USB drivers from the Garmin website (http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=591). Alternatively, you can install Garmin and Magellan drivers from the CD.
